Islington Town House
This Victorian terraced 5-bedroom house in Islington once a bedsit, needed a complete overhaul. Dry rot, pealing plaster, faulty electrics and a leaking roof were just some of the problems.
The brief was to respect the period features converting this property back to a fully functioning, warm, practical, and stylish family home, open and welcoming for family and friends.
Making every space multifunctional the basement became a music room / storage space / utility, w.c and cloak room, utilizing the stairs to become drawers to house shoes.
The joinery in the home office was designed to tuck away work-related items and display books, records and plants becoming a real organised space for all the family to enjoy.
A space to live & feel
Islington Town House
The family wanted the house to feel calm on arrival. KEMSI injected light, airy, monochromatic tones with subtle hints of brass and blush. The original features are highlighted throughout with tonal hues. Paired with simple modern uncluttered furniture the house feels stylish, organised and calm.
The kitchen, originally dark and cold went from the least desirable to most sociable room in the house. The space was reconfigured to enable a connection with the outside. Extra light was added with glass connecting the space with the garden and adding an outdoor kitchen created indoor / outdoor living in the warmer months becoming the perfect place to enjoy socializing.
This once tired home is now a buzzing, yet organized haven enjoyed by family and friends.
