North London
London Modern Victorian Home
Walking into the property in the early stages meant that everything was stripped back from all its original features and walls. We needed to create a series of living space carefully crafted around the client’s requirements with a mix of period and modern.
Our solution started upon immediate entry, where feature lighting and a black wall was used to accentuate the double height space. The glass balustrade upon entry allowed them to see from front to back of the property.
Instantly drawn to the large rear extension, the new, very modern space was broken into zones to create a stylish, functional kitchen/diner, a garden view snug and DJ area, all connected. Tucked neatly behind, the utility room, disguised as an extension to the kitchen and a second shower room.
Period features were added to all the front rooms of the property. The living room became a cosy, comfortable retreat with stylish joinery and bar area. The master bedroom, dark and moody was filled with period panelling, feature lights and bespoke joinery.
Large amounts of bespoke joinery were used throughout for the client’s storage needs.
A time for work, a time for play
London Modern Victorian Home
Every room should respond to the pace of life, as it happens to be in that moment. This home needed to feel functional both day and night, a flexible working and living space meant it was important our clients had areas to retreat to in the evenings. They enjoyed having friends come over to socialise in the large luxurious living areas.
The house, split into a mix of period features and modern furniture flowed well together. Predominantly monochromatic in tone, the house was injected with jewel tones like deep blues and tactile fabrics. Touches of heavy metal in the lighting and ironmongery complimented the modern element of the period rooms.
"KEMSI believes that the feelings our clients hope to capture in a space ‘writes the brief’ - to achieve the objectives of the Client, designers and architects work collaboratively."
